The Olympic Final
Today Megan showed her version of the Olympic spirit, running the race, in obvious pain from an injury. On the world’s biggest stage, in the race she has dreamt of running so many times, Megan showed her true makeup in her determination to finish the race. Results can be found here:
Speaking for Megan’s friends and coworkers in Morgantown, we are thrilled at her success in what she has achieved in running in the Olympics, and are honored to be graced by her presence in our lives. Megan had a look of disapointment as she crossed the line today, but she can hold her head high. Way to go, Meg.

Megan, You have no idea how proud I am of you, how I wish I had the talent, drive, and determination that carried you this far. It is an honor to know you and an honor to have had the opportunity to shake the hand of an Olympian before you left. What a great and proud journey this had to have been for you. Donnan School is wearing a sea of “RED” today in honour of your accomplishment. We are all proud of your effort and determination. It has left an invaluable impression on our young aspiring athletes. It is a blessing to know you and to have “shared” in your Olympic journey via your website. You give inspiration to all of us…old and young. You are an awesome young woman and athlete!!!!
So many people want to hug you when you get home–you are blessed with 2 nations, 2 towns, a university and hospital, and many friends who hold you up in high regard as “my favorite Olympian”!

hey megs- was so amazing to turn the tv on and see your cute little face on there, representing our country:) There have been so many incredible performances by canadians at these olympics, a very clear and obvious display that they are not only exceptional athletes but exceptional human beings. what perfect company for you my dear- you are truly one of the classiest:) come visit sometime, miss you!

Hmm…6 or 7 BILLION people in the world and out of all of those people you are at LEAST the 15th fastest woman in the 5000m meter!!! Unreal!!! I am cocky and like to think i would be ranked somewhere around 5 billion. Well ahead of toddlers and bed ridden seniors, but nowhere near your bazing speed!
Congrats on an awesome performace and thank you for giving me, my mom and all your friends and family a connection to the olympics! You did amazing and we are all overwhelmed with your accomplishments!!! Bring on London!!!!

It is so exciting to know an Olympian and actually share the experience. Congratulations Megan!!! Although the games were in Beijing, we view you on Mt. Olympus. We mortals can’t wait to give you a big hug and hear of your experience. Although we live in the USA our home looks like a Canadian Embassy. This has been a truely precious time in our lives.

Congratulations Megan! You’ve done something this week that most of us couldn’t even dream of!
I read some of the above posts and I started wondering if you knew how important you are and how much you’ve inspired the others in your life. Not only have you made your friends and family proud, you’ve done the same for 2 communities and 2 countries!

Great job Megan! We are all so proud of you! From the time we first met you, we knew you would be a star someday and you really are! Your drive and determination are to be admired, and I am honoured to tell my girls that I know an Olympian. You respresented Canada with pride. Making the final was a fantastic accomplishment. someone asked me if you were the same person who broke their leg jumping into blue hole a few yrs back??…any truth to this statement??..great olympic effort.
